GRANITE & QUARTZ

       Granite countertops have become a staple in today’s homes – a sign of a sophisticated upgrade or solid investment in functional home décor. Granite is certainly beautiful. It’s rich and complex with flecks and pebbles in a wide variety of colors and patterns. Each slab is uniquely made by Mother Nature.

       Granite doesn’t age or become less beautiful over time. Granite is stain, scratch, heat and chemical resistant. It is among the hardest countertop materials available and is not easily damaged. To maintain it, sealing is important; however, contrary to common myths, granite does not need to be sealed often. In fact, there are sealants that give a lifetime warranty against staining with just one single application. Some granites don’t require any sealing at all.

        Quartz is a beautiful, manmade, durable and long-lasting option for your kitchen countertop. Quartz countertops are highly stain resistant, have a very low water absorption rate, and do not require sealing. However, approximately 7% of your quartz countertop is composed of petroleum based resin and pigments. Resin will react with some chemicals. With normal use, staining will never be an issue with your quartz countertops.

        Quartz is heat resistant. The resin used to bind the quartz matrix will discolor (turn white) if heated too high. Never place hot pots and pans from the stove or oven directly onto a quartz countertop. Quartz is UV resistant and perfectly suited to a variety of interior applications, even in rooms where there is lots of sunlight.
